This month’s meeting has no particular agenda.  If any members want to tell us about some interesting projects they are working on or ask questions of other members the floor will be yours.  If not, come along anyway.

Katherine Colby who used to be a member of the BDA is around to update us on the latest ideas and best practice in Flooding and Water Management.

Andrew Fisher from Project Fire Products Ltd will speak on Sprinklers vs Mist. This seminar aims to address the growing interest in watermist being used as a firefighting agent and in particular, as a rival for more traditional sprinkler ‘spray type’ systems. Some basis knowledge of fixed firefighting systems is assumed. The seminar looks at the different categories of fire and the suitability of sprinklers, mist systems and other firefighting agents for each category. The key differences between sprinklers and watermist are discussed including droplet size, water supplies, head spacing and standards. Advantages and disadvantages of mist systems are put forward and applications are suggested.
