Davies Torres Design Ltd was formed in 2010 by husband and wife team of Russell Davies and Marian Torres-Davies to provide a holistic design service for domestic and commercial projects for both bespoke new build designs, alterations to existing properties and conservation of historic buildings. We are a client focussed practice who enjoy being part of the construction process from the inception of the design. Too often, the engineer is brought in at the last minute just to provide the calculations to someone elses design. In many cases this can lead to inappropriate solutions that are not cost effective and more difficult to build. We prefer to work with designers and architects from the start of the process so that the structural engineering fits in with the aesthetic and so that we can advise on appropriate cost effective solutions.

We formed the practice after nearly 20 years working within a larger practice in order to concentrate on domestic and conservation projects where we can have a greater input into the design and work closely within the design team.

We are experienced in all building materials but have particular expertise in timber structures, both as repairs to traditional structures and also for new build timber frame buildings (which are the standard method of housing construction in Scotland) but are becoming increasingly common throughout the rest of the UK as insulation requirements increase with changes to Building Regulations.

I am also an Approved Certifier of Design under the Scottish Building Regulations system, allowing certification of designs in Scotland for Building Warrant approvals.
